Old Fleming Hospital

INVESTIGATION REPORT:
This was our first investigation that was right here close in the little town of Elgin.  I got a few
requests by locals to check out the old Fleming Hospital, and we did! Before we could check
this place out we had to get permission from the city of Elgin.  Luckily Jeff Coffee, the Elgin
city manager allowed us to investigate the hospital with the help of a previous city official.
The former hospital is in decent shape, and is now used as a park and recreational swimming
area for the city of Elgin.  The majority of the structure has since been demolished, and the
morgue, which was underground, has been filled in to make room for the new pool.  Today,
the only original structure that is left is the front area which is about 1500 sq ft.  There was a
small area near the front that is now used as public bathrooms, but during the hospitals
operation it was used as a separate area for African American patients.

We arrived on site and was given a tour by Gary Cooke who was heavily involved in the
demolition of the hospital and building of the park.  He told us stories as well as claims of
activity told to him by different contractors who worked on the project.  While in the
crawlspace during demolition Mr. Cooke who worked for the city at the time found glass
bottles filled with embalming fluid and what appeared to be human body parts.  Also, during
the plumbing phase a plumber was scared out of his work area and refused to go back. The
plumber never said why he left, he simply instructed the contractor to gather his tools so he
could pick them up.

We were charged from the tour and the stories so we quickly got to work setting up our
equipment. The investigation got underway and we made rounds, two inside and two outside
at all times.  It is reported that children often cry and feel uneasy for no reason when in the
kiddie pool which is located directly above where the morgue used to be. We continued to
make our rounds through the night recording audio, taking photos, and keeping alert.  This
location gave us a couple personal experiences. There were some knocks and bangs which
are typical of old buildings, but a few times there were unexplainable noises that would
sounds on request.  Other then that it was a calm night.  We did get to dismissed claims of
being watched by verifying high EMF readings due to wiring.

After reviewing the evidence we found no video and no photos, but we did get a couple of
possible EVP.  They are both class C and not as impressive as we would like, but we always
want to post our findings so you can judge for yourself what you believe.
